By A Staff Reporter : Mahadev is worshiped through the night by fasting on Shivaratri.This festival is an auspicious festival of the divine incarnation of Shiva.The night of his incarnation from formlessness to form is called Mahashivratri.


Hindus believe that Mahadev frees us from lust, anger, greed, addiction, violence, etc. and bestows us with ultimate happiness, peace and prosperity.According to the Hindu calendar, Mahashivratri is celebrated every year on the Chaturdashi tithi of Krishna Paksha in the month of Falgun.Although according to the Hindu calendar, the monthly Shivratri fast and puja are observed on the Chaturdashi tithi of the Krishna Paksha of every month, the Chaturdashi tithi of the month of Phalgun is observed as Mahashivratri. On Mahashivratri, Shivalinga is bathed in rituals.
