China apologizes for flying balloons over Costa Rica's airspace

BY A STAFF REPORTER: China has apologized to Costa Rica for flying a suspected Chinese spy balloon over the United States. A U.S. military plane shot down the balloon off the Atlantic coast on Saturday, and President Joe Biden insisted on Monday that "this incident has not weakened U.S.-China relations." Costa Rica's foreign ministry said in a brief statement: "The Chinese government has acknowledged that one of its balloons flew over Costa Rica and the Chinese embassy in San Jose has apologised for the incident."
