Father killed in blast, daughter wins gold medal

Bushra Khan won the gold medal in the women's section of the 3,000m race event on the second day of the athletics event of Khelo India Youth Games. Bushra is a source of inspiration for all the girls who have to fight every day in the flow of life. Hailing from a lower-middle-class family in Sehore district adjoining Bhopal, Bushra's father Gaffar Khan worked as an worker in a chemical factory. Bushra's father was killed in an explosion last year. With no second breadwinner in the family, It became extremely difficult for Bushra to fulfill her dream. After her father's death, the responsibility of her mother and two younger sisters, aged 13 and 15, also fell on Bushra's shoulders.
