Jharkhand won the gold medal in the first event of the athletics competition of the Khelo India National Youth Games which started in Bhopal. Gumla's Asha Kiran Barla won the gold medal in the 1500 m race for Jharkhand. He achieved the feat by finishing the race in 4.43.50 seconds. Madhya Pradesh's B Khan won the silver with a time of 4.44.39 seconds. While Gujarat's Lakhita Shandilya won the bronze with a time of 4.45.71 seconds.
