BJP rally will be allowed, Kolkata police tells High court

BY A STAFF REPORTER:
The BJP had approached the Kolkata Police seeking permission for the rally. However, the BJP's request was rejected by the police. In an e-mail, the police told the BJP that long rallies should not be held keeping in mind the security and law of the city.

Besides, there are hospitals, educational institutions, and multiple offices on the route of the procession. The procession will not be allowed as it may cause inconvenience to the common people. The BJP then moved the court.

Advocate Loknath Chatterjee says, 'On Thursday, Justice Rajshekhar Mantha sought to know from the Kolkata Police why they were not allowing the BJP's march. After this, the lawyer of Kolkata Police informed that we are giving permission.'  On the other hand, the court directed the Kolkata Police to make all security arrangements. It also directed the BJP to take out processions while maintaining peace and keeping the traffic system operational.
