Former Chief Minister Mukul Sangma will contest from two constituencies in Meghalaya elections

By A Staff Reporter : Former Chief Minister of Meghalaya, Mukul Sangma is going to contest on a Trinamool ticket with his family in the state assembly elections in February.Mukul will fight from two seats together.He is the Trinamool candidate in Songak and Tikrikilla constituencies.On the other hand, his wife Dikkanchi D Shira will contest from Mahendraganj. His daughter Miani De Sheera will contest from Ampati, and his younger brother Zenith Sangma will contest from Rangskona.





 Mukul Sangma joined the Trinamool along with 11 Congress MLAs in November 2021 to make the Trinamool the main opposition party in the state.







In 1993, Mukul Sangma was elected to the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly as an independent candidate from Ampatigiri. He was the chairman of the Meghalaya Transport Corporation. Ray was re-elected to the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly as a National Congress representative in 1998, 2003, 2004, 2013, 2018.Served as Parliamentary Secretary to the Government of Meghalaya from 1996-1998. In 2003, he was awarded the D.D. of Meghalaya. Lapang became Minister of Home Affairs and Education in the government. Appointed Deputy Chief Minister of Meghalaya in 2005.Sangma was sworn in as the 11th Chief Minister of Meghalaya in April 2010. He was sworn in for a second consecutive term in March 2013. Mukul Sangma contested the 2018 assembly elections.Won from Songak and Ampati constituencies.
