How is Republic Day celebrated in Delhi?

By A Staff Reporter : India celebrates Republic Day on 26th January.On this day parades are held in the national capital along with the states.In New Delhi, the parade takes place from Raisina Hill near Rashtrapati Bhavan, the President's residence, along the highway beyond India Gate.

Before the start of the parade, the President laid a wreath at the Amar Jawan Jyoti, a memorial dedicated to martyred soldiers at India Gate, located at one end of the highway.After this, 2 minutes of silence was observed for those soldiers.This is the way to pay tribute to the martyred soldiers who fought for India's sovereignty during the freedom movement and subsequent wars.After this the President met with other dignitaries and along with the Chief Guest came to the main stage of the function located on Rajpath. The President's bodyguards escorted them on horseback.
