By A Staff Reporter : January 23 is Netaji Jayanti.Before that, know about Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose's ancestral home.Netaji's ancestral home is located at Kodalia in Sonarpur, Baruipur subdivision of 24 Parganas district.Bose family was one of the most iconic families of Bengal.They are mainly residents of Mahinagar in South 24 Parganas.The name Mahinagar is derived from the name of Mahipati Bose, the then commander of the Gaur Sultan.He received the title of Subuddhi Ray.His son Ishan Khan was Sultan Husain Shah's finance minister and admiral.He received the title of Purandar Khan.
Ramanath Bose was one of the descendants of Ishan Khan.He moved to Kodalia in the early 18th century.It was he who built the ancestral house of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose.Although Subhash Chandra Bose and his brother Sarat Chandra Bose were born in Cuttack, But they grew up in Kolkata.During Durga Puja, Subhash and Sharat visit their ancestral home.The part of the house where Netaji lived has now been converted into a museum. There are a few rooms at the front of the house. It also has a vaulted balcony.
