Chief Minister's request to  turn Gangasagar Mela into a National Fair

By A Staff Reporter : Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee reached Sagar on Wednesday afternoon to check the preparations before Gangasagar Mela.She inaugurated the new helipad.She will go to Kapil Muni's ashram during her trip to Sagar.Then there will be a meeting with the administrative officials about the fair.On this day, the Chief Minister announced the construction of a modern guest house at a cost of 65 lakh rupees.She also informed about the inauguration of the new bridge in Kakdwip.The Chief Minister also announced an aid of Rs 5 lakh in case of any accident during the fair.She said, 'Permanent jetty has been constructed at Lot 8 of Kakdwip.'


On this day, Mamata targeted the Center from the Gangesagar. Said, 'Muriganga needs a bridge. The Center did not respond to our request. Even though the center gives grants to all the fairs, the Gangasagar fair is deprived.' At the same time, she requested the Center to make the Gangasagar Mela a national fair.
