The much awaited Joka-Taratala Metro has started running

By A Staff Reporter : The wait is over.City of Joy at the end of the year owes a lift.Joka-Taratala Metro is inaugurated.Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday virtually inaugurated the Metro on the Joka-Taratla route along with the Bande Bharat Express.Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnab along with Governor CV Anand Bose, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and many others were present at the launch of the Vande Bharat Express at Howrah station.The Prime Minister could not appear in person due to the loss of his mother.He attended the event virtually.

With the introduction of Metro on the Joka-Taratala route, commuting will now become easier.Travel time will be reduced.With the commencement of the Joka-Taratala Metro stretch (Purple Line), traffic on the busy Diamond Harbor Road is expected to smooth out.There will be a total of 6 stations on the 6 and a half kilometer journey. The project has been constructed at a cost of Tk 2535 crore.
