Supreme Court rejects Delhi MCD election postponement plea

By A Staff Reporter : The Supreme Court on Friday rejected a plea to stay the Delhi Municipal Corporation elections scheduled to be held on December 4.A bench of Justices Sanjay Kishan Kaul and Abhay S Okar said the petition has become futile with the passage of time.A lawyer for the petitioner 'National Youth Party' said they were challenging the ward boundaries drawn for the polls and sought postponement of the municipal elections.

The bench said polling is scheduled to take place on Sunday and cannot be interfered with at this time. The petitioner challenged the Delhi High Court's November 9 order by which it had refused to interfere in the municipal elections and dismissed the petition.
