Big B's name, picture and voice can't be used without permission: Delhi High Court

By A Staff Reporter : On a petition filed by Amitabh Bachchan, the Delhi High Court ruled that the Bollywood actor's voice, image and name cannot be used without permission. Eminent lawyer Harish Salve appearing for him. Justice Navin Chawla passed the interim order on a plea filed by the actor seeking protection of his publicity rights against the Kaun Banega Crorepati lottery scam and other online frauds where his photo and voice are being misused to deceive the public.

The Delhi High Court recognized the actor's right to publicity as a celebrity and said it was being violated.The court noted that failure to provide protection could cause irreparable harm to the veteran actor. Beside this, The High Court directed the Ministry of Telecom and other authorities to remove certain flagged content.
