7 European teams dropped plans for the One Love Armband
New Update
By A Staff Reporter: England, Wales, the Netherlands, Belgium, Switzerland, Germany and Denmark decided against wearing "One Love" armbands at the FIFA World Cup after world soccer governing body FIFA threatened teams with sanctions, including yellow cards for captains. 7 European teams decided to sport the One Love armband as a statement against the treatment of the LGBTQ community in Qatar, where homosexuality is illegal. However, in a joint statement, the seven teams said on Monday that they were disappointed by FIFA's decision. The Dutch FA said that FIFA has made it clear that captains wearing the said armband will receive a yellow card at the start of the match. Following the threat of yellow cards from FIFA, 7 European teams scrapped plans for the One Love Armband.
