Debris of Russian passenger plane with 28 on board found, all feared dead

The debris of a missing Russian An-26 aircraft which lost contact with air traffic control shortly before it was due to land in the settlement of Palana, in the north of the remote Kamchatka peninsula was found with all 28 passengers feared dead. The plane was flying from Petropavlovsk. Airport officials said that communication with the plane had been lost 10 minutes before it was scheduled to land on Tuesday.
