Centre appoints six new Governors, Dhankar stays in West Bengal

Despite intense protests and pressure from the TMC, Centre did not shift the Governor of West Bengal, Jagdeep Dhankar. Instead, the union government announced the names of six new Governors in different states across the country. Rajendra Arlekar, former Speaker of Goa has been appointed as the Governor of Himachal Pradesh. Senior BJP leaders, Bandaru Dattatreya, Thawarchand Gehlot, have been appointed as Governors of Haryana and Karnataka respectively. Ramesh Bais has been appointed as the Governor of Jharkhand while PS Sreedharan Pillai is the new Governor of Goa.
