Giorgia Meloni sworn in as Italy's first female prime minister

BY A STAFF REPORTER: Giorgia Meloni, leader of the far-right Brothers of Italy party, has been sworn in as the first female prime minister in Italy's history. The new government led by him was formally sworn in on Saturday (October 22) morning local time. Earlier, 45-year-old Giorgia Meloni announced the formation of the cabinet after a meeting with Italian President Sergio Mattarella. For the first time since World War II, the Italian people got a far-right government. The Brothers of Italy, led by Melloni, won last month's national election in alliance with former prime minister Silvio Berlusconi's Forza Italia and Matteo Salvini's league.
