There are many folk tales about Bhoot Chaturdashi or Naraka Chaturdashi. There are some rituals or methods for celebrating this special occassion. According to folklore, there is a rule to eat fourteen types of vegetables before Kali Puja.
Fourteen lamps have to be lit in the evening. This occassion is also known as Halloween. The light is placed in it by cutting pumpkins. Seeing the sign of the lamp, the souls from heaven and hell reached the place of their present generation.
