BY A STAFF REPORTER: Do you know what is Diwali? Diwali is basically a five-day Long Hindu festival. It is also known as Diwali, Deepanvita, Deepalika, Sukhratri, Sukhasuptika and Yaksharatri. On the day of Krishna Trayodashi in the month of Ashwin, the festival of Diwali begins with the dhanteras or dhantrayodashi ceremony. 



The festival ends with a bhaidooj ceremony on shukla dwitiya tithi of Kartik month. Diwali begins 18 days after the end of the Navratri festival or the Durgotsav of the Bengalis. According to the Gregorian calendar, Diwali is held between mid-October and mid-November.
