Durga Puja at Purnendu Chandra Dhar's house

Kolkata:
Purnendu Chandra Dhar's house is one of the banedi houses in north Kolkata. Purnendu Chandra Dhar's family home is not far from the badan chandra roy family home. This Vaishnava family does not worship Maa Durga in its demon-killing posture.

Instead, she is worshipped here as Abhaya Maa. The seated idol has two hands instead of ten. There are two lions sitting at his feet. The mother is surrounded by her children and her hands by the virgin. The puja is about 160 years old, but did not take place in the building for some time when the building was vandalized during the 1946 riots and the family had to take shelter elsewhere.
