Regional Sports Meet for Yoga (Girls) at Kendriya Vidyalaya

By a staff reporter-51st Regional sports meet of Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan, Kolkata Region for Yoga (Girls) was organized at Kendriya Vidyalaya, Garden Reach, Kolkata from 23 to 25 August 2022.



First day of the meet was marked with a well organised inaugural ceremony. 78 participants from 24 schools, including the venue school & an equal number of escort teachers are participating in this 3-Day meet.



The ceremony commenced with lighting of lamp by the Chief Guest Dr. Mahua Verma (Principal CPO, South Eastern Railway Headquarters, Garden Reach, & Chairman, VMC, KV Garden Reach) along with Guest of Honour, Mr. Ravi Kumar(Dy. CPO) accompanied by Principal, Shri Ranjan Kumar Behera, (KV Garden Reach). It was followed by oath taking ceremony. The Chief guest declared the meet open and lighted the torch. The Principal of the Vidyalaya greeted the dignitaries with green felicitation and welcome address. He also inspired the participants by telling that Yoga is a way of living which aims towards a healthy mind in a healthy body and blessed the participants for their upcoming competition. A short cultural programme was presented by the host Vidyalaya, which was highly applauded by one & all present there.

The Chief Guest blessed the participants. She highlighted the true essence of yoga in context with present era and thrusted on sportsman spirit. The programme concluded with vote of thanks and national anthem.



The competition was held under three categories : U-14, U-17 & U-19 & their performances was assessed by judges of National repute from different organisations like Anandam Foundation and Swami Vivekananda Yoga Anusandhan Samsthana.



The concluding ceremony was held in 25th August 2022 at 2pm. It began with the blessing speech of the Principal of KV Garden Reach. A brief report was read by Mrs.Bindiya Sharma, TGT(P&HE) and impression of a teacher & a student was also taken.



Result (best 5 of each group was announced) and medals were distributed to the best 3 of each group by the venue principal and the Chief Guest Shri Manoj Das(General Secretary, Anandam Foundation). Program ended with the vote of thanks by Mr.S.K.Mani (PGT- Biology).
