High Court pulls up state transport department

BY A STAFF REPORTER: Mamata government has been fined in a public interest litigation (PIL) over the bus fare hike. Failed to file an affidavit on bus fare hike against the state. The high court imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 on the state. It is learnt that the state has failed to file an affidavit on the fare hike in private buses and minibuses.  ​







A division bench of the Chief Justice pulled up the transport department for failing to seek an affidavit. Court questioned, "Why was the transport department not able to file an affidavit on time? Doesn't the government have enough information?"
