SANSKRITI: -The Gujarat Police has lodged an FIR and registered a case under Section 302 of the Gujarat hooch tragedy where 28 people died after allegedly consuming fake country liquor in Botad state. The police are registering a case of murder in this matter under several sections including 302, 328, 120B and other sections of the Prohibition Act. According to the police, the FIR has 14 names and all of them are smugglers. According to Gujarat DGP Ashish Bhatia, three FIRs have been registered in the matter. "Three FIRs have been registered in Barwala, Ranpur and Ahmedabad Rural...The local police will constitute the SIT," Gujarat Director General Ashish Bhatia said on the fake liquor deaths in Botad. Illegal country liquor is sold in Potli. One small plastic packet of alcohol which is called 'Potli' was sold for Rs.40. Smugglers charged Rs 40 for each Potli which caused so many deaths. After preliminary investigation and questioning of the suspects, Gujarat Police sources said that the smugglers sold chemicals to the deceased instead of alcohol. They fell ill on Sunday evening after ingesting chemicals. According to the SIT probe, a company called Emos is believed to have supplied the methyl that was present in the poisonous liquor consumed by the victims. Godown manager Jayesh aka Raju supplied 200 liters of methyl to his relative Sanjay for Rs 60,000.
