CHINA: HUSBAND SETS FIRE ON LIVE STREAM

By a staff reporter-A man has been executed in China after a court found him guilty of setting fire to his ex-wife while she was broadcasting live on an online portal. The man, Tang Lu, was allowed to meet his family once before his execution in the southwestern province of Sichuan, The Global Times reported. The case sparked widespread condemnation and outrage across the country, drawing attention to what women face in abusive marriages.

Tang had a history of physical abuse towards Lam, Chinese state media reported, adding that the couple divorced in June 2020. He repeatedly sought her out and asked her to remarry him in the following months, but was rebuffed. On the day of the incident, Lu showed up behind her while she was live streaming on the platform, doused her with gasoline and set her on fire. He was arrested

soon after and sentenced to death in October 2021. He lost his appeal in January 2022.
