Rishi Sunak remains MPs favourites while Suella bows out of Tory leadership race

BY AVIJIT NANDI MAJUMDAR:  Indian origin former chancellor of UK, Rishi Sunak maintained his top position in the second ballot of the Tory leadership race while another Indian origin Attorney General of UK, Suella Braverman is out of the race having secured only 27 votes, five less than Tom Tugendhat who just about made it. Sunak scored a century with 101 votes followed by Penny Mordaunt with 83 votes and Liz Truss with 64 votes. 


The rest of the candidates Kemi Badenoch and Tom are left to fight another day when the third ballot will be taken up on Monday among the Conservative Party MPs to shortlist the top two hopefuls for the party leadership and Prime Minister.
