Violence and crime threaten South Africa's precarious control of safety and security
Ananya Saha: As South Africa reflects on the year since unrest broke out in KwaZulu Natal and parts of Gauteng, the Institute for Economics and Peace (IEP) continues to rate the country poorly in terms of safety
and security.
 




According to IEP's latest Global Peace Index (GPI), published at the end of June 2022, South Africa is among the 25 worst countries in the world for safety and security.
