Government  Covid booster dose interval to six months

By A Staff Reporter : The time between the second dosage of the Covid vaccination and the precautionary dose has been shortened by the government from nine months to six months. The National Technical Advisory Group on Immunization (NTAGI), the government's  immunisation advisory agency, has suggested shortening the interval between the second shot and the booster dosage.

Previously, there was a 9-month gap between the second dose and the precautionary dose. It is currently only six months long, or 26 weeks.

In a letter to the chief secretaries and administrators of all states and Union Territories, Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan stated that the precaution dose will be given to all beneficiaries between the ages of 18 and 59 after 6 months or 26 weeks had passed after the second dose was given.

The letter stated, "Precaution dosage would be supplied after completion of 6 months or 26 weeks from the date of administration of second dose at Government CVCs, free of charge, for beneficiaries above 60 years and above as well as the Health Care Workers (HCWs) & Front Line Workers (FLWs)."
