Despite things getting better, two more people perish in  Assam disaster


BY A STAFF REPORTER : Despite the fact that Assam's flood situation has significantly improved, two more persons perished on Sunday, according to an official bulletin.



According to the Assam State Disaster Management Authority Bulletin, both deaths occurred in the Hailakandi district, bringing the total number of fatalities from this year's flood and landslides to 192.


Nevertheless, 5,39,334 people are still harmed by the flood in 12 districts. 390 communities across 18 revenue circles were still under water as of this writing.


The worst-affected district is Cachar, where 3,55,960 people are still in need of assistance. Morigaon is next, where 1,42,662 people are struggling to survive the flood.


In 114 relief camps around the state, more than 38,000 people were finding shelter. It was optional to add 48 more relief distribution centres.




According to the ASDMA, floodwaters continued to cover a total of 7,368.41 hectares of cropland.
In the recent 24 hours, houses, roads, and other infrastructure were damaged in the districts of Dibrugarh, Morigaon, Nagaon, Udalguri Baksa, and Hojai.

According to the ASDMA, reports of erosion came from the districts of Baksa, Biswanath, Bongaigaon, Morigaon, and Tinsukia.
It also stated that none of the state's major rivers were flowing above the danger  threshold.
