BY A STAFF REPORTER : Following an early Thursday morning moderate earthquake in Hassan district, many villages in the Old Mysore region felt light tremors. The Holenarasipur Taluk in Hassan district was 16 kilometres from the epicentre of the earthquake, which had a duration of 2-3 seconds around 4.40 am, according to the Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Center.
In remote areas of the Hassan, Mandya, Kodagu, and Mysuru districts, earthquakes were detected. Since the epicentre is in Seismic Zone II, there is a lower risk of earthquakes occurring, as well as a lower chance that they will cause damage.
