50 Years Of Dutta Family's Rathyatra

BY A STAFF REPORTER: The family chariot of Dutta family in Martala area of Debra block has become public. This rathyatra started was fifty years ago. The people of the area from the Dutta family are more excited about this rathyatra. This celebrations' preparations are in huge way. Due to covid pandemic this celebration has stopped for two years. This year the rathyatra will return to the old rhythm. The rathyatra started by late Ajit Dutta and Gaurahari Dutta of the Dutta family. In this village different types of pujo festivals are held throughout the year. But the people of the village are wait all year to pull the chariot for the Rathyatra festival. 




The chariot leaves from Datta's house in Martala, and ends at Gompakanthi, about a kilometer away. The people of the whole village gathered to pull the ropes of this chariot. This chariot, which is fifty feet high, does not have the idol of Jagannath Dev. The chariot has a statue of Radhagobind. The passion and love of the whole villagers has spread around this rathyatra. This year the Debra administration has also given permission to pull the chariot. And the people of the area are also overwhelmed to be able to join this chariot.
