History of International Yoga Day

​By A Staff Reporter : The best way to keep your body healthy and strong is to practice yoga daily.Every year June 21 is celebrated as International Yoga Day.Yoga is believed to have originated in India thousands of years ago and is mentioned in ancient mythological books such as the Rick Veda.





On September 26, 2014, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in his address to the UN General Assembly, proposed to observe Yoga Day.In his speech, Modi described yoga as "an invaluable gift of India's ancient heritage" and "the practice of yoga is very important for reconciling man and nature". India was supported by 16 countries and then the draft resolution was passed and the first Yoga Day was observed on 21st June 2015.
