Indian Air Force is now planning to manufacture 96 fighter jets with indigenous technology. The Indian Air Force plans to procure 114 fighter jets of which 96 will be manufactured in India while the remaining 18 will be imported from foreign vendors selected for the project.

The Indian Air Force has plans to procure 114 multirole fighter aircraft (MRFA) under the 'Bai Global and Make in India' scheme, under which Indian companies will be allowed to partner with a foreign vendor.
