BSF apprehended 1 Indian smuggler with Phensedyl bottles

BY A STAFF REPORTER: BSF troops under South Bengal Frontier apprehended red-handed 01 Indian smuggler with 90 Phensedyl bottles from their border area. The smuggler was trying to smuggle all these bottles from India to Bangladesh.



On May 09, 2022 at around 1930 hrs, based on specific information, the troops of Border Out Post Bithari, 112 Battalion, Sector Kolkata stopped a Maruti car on the International Border which was going from Bithari Bazar towards Dharkanda village. During the search, 90 Phensedyl bottles were recovered from the back seat of the car. The man was apprehended by the Border Security Force personnel. The apprehended person has been identified as Jhantu Ghazi, 49 years, father Islam Ghazi, village Hakimpur, Thana Swaroop Nagar, District North 24 Parganas.



During preliminary interrogation, the apprehended person revealed that he is an Indian national and does petty smuggling work for his survival. He further revealed that all these Phensedyl bottles were taken from Bithari smuggler and after crossing the duty point of Border Security Force all these phensedyl bottles were handed over to unknown smuggler. The troops apprehended him while crossing the duty point of the Border Security Force.



The apprehended person has been handed over to the Police Station Swarupnagar along with the seized items.



Chandra Shekhar, Officiating Commanding Officer, 112 Battalion expressed happiness over the achievements of the jawans in thwarting smuggling attempts. He stated that this has been possible only because of the alertness displayed by his jawans on duty. The officer clearly stated that nothing can hide from the eyes of his troops.
