BY A STAFF REPORTER: Are influential people trying to shield Lake Club authorities? According to family members and friends of the two boys, Pushan Sadhukhan and Souryadeep Chatterjee, there are tell-tale signs of ``negligence'' and ``callous attitude'' on part of the Lake Club authorities but so far ``no action has been taken.'' Sadhukhan and Souryadeep were a part of the rowing team out of practice after reaching the finals of the Regretta when they were caught in the storm. Pushan and Souryadeep drowned while their other mates managed to save themselves. Initial investigations revealed that there was a weather warning of a thunderstorm on Saturday evening. The condition was overcast and cloudy since 3 PM, according to the Kolkata weather office. In such weather conditions, experts claimed that it is imperative that no rowers are allowed to venture into the water. The family members and friends of the deceased students also mentioned that there was no safety precaution or back up rescue made available on that day for such an eventuality. Police claimed that they have not formally initiated a case as no one has complained.
