Dhakuria bridge to be shut down after pujas for repairs

BY A STAFF REPORTER: Dhakuria bridge, connecting Gariahat and Golpark with southern fringe areas like Jadavpur and Garia, widely considered the lifeline of south Kolkata will have to be shut down for a ``considerable period of time'' after the Durga puja festivals for repairs. According to state government authorities and police, serious flaws in the bridge structure have been identified during a recent inspection. Engineers have suggested a ``full scale repair work as the structure was built with flawed material.''
