Yoga Mahotsav 2022 at MAHER

Meenakshi Academy of Higher education and Research ( Deemed to be University), Chennai was selected one among the 100 organizations across the globe to organize yoga programme/workshop/ seminar through offline and online mode in connection with the celebration of 100 days, 100 organizations at 100 places globally by Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga (MDNIY), Ministry of Ayush, Government of India to celebrate yoga Mahotsav – 2022.

 In Tamilnadu, only Two Institutions are selected and one among those two is Meenakshi Academy of higher Education and Research (Deemed to be University), Chennai.

The Common Yoga Protocol (CYP) practical demonstration was organized today at two places such as one at Shri Kailasanathar Temple, Kanchipuram and the other one Meenakshi Medical College Hospital and Research Institute (MMCHRI) simultaneously. Thousands of MAHER students participated in the yoga demonstrations.

Online yoga programmes commenced after those demonstrations with the registration of 1509 all over the world. Vice Chancellor of MAHER Prof Dr R S Neelakandan presided over the inaugural function. The Registrar of MAHER Prof Dr C Krithika presented the special address. The DEAN of MMCHRI Prof Dr K V Rajashekar felicitated the function. Dr R Elangovan, Professor and Head of the Department, Faculty of Yoga Sciences and Therapy welcomed the gathering. Online Workshop with discourse was handled by Yoga Thilakam Dr Meena Ramanathan, Deputy Director & Associate Professor of Centre for Yoga Therapy Education & Research (CYTER) at Mahatma Gandhi Medical College & Research Institute (MGMCRI) and Sri Balaji Vidyapeeth (Deemed to be University), Puducherry, spoke on ‘Rejuvenating Wellness among Women’. Then, Prof Dr Akshay Anand, Professor In-charge, CCRYN Collaborative Centre for Mind Intervention through Yoga, PGIMER, Chandigarh, delivered the lecture on ‘how to bring quality to yoga research methodology’. Prof Neera Nathani, Professor & Former Head, Department of Swasthavritta and Yoga, Faculty of Ayurveda, Institute of Medical Science, Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi (India), briefed the importance on a boon for wellness and world peace.

Yogacharya Dr Ananda Balayogi Bhavanani, Director of the Centre for Yoga Therapy Education and Research (CYTER) and Professor of Yoga Therapy at Sri Balaji Vidyapeeth (Deemed to be University), Pondicherry, voiced on ‘Salutogenesis and yoga therapy’ in the webinar. Dr K S Balasubramanian, Deputy Director The Kuppuswami Sastri Research Institute, Mylapore, Chennai, done a discourse on ‘Yoga for total wellbeing would be useful to the society’. Finally, Dr A Subramanian, Director of Adhyatma Yoga Academy, Bengaluru, explained on ‘Yogic Wellness for Vitality of Youth’.

With the National Anthem, the event successfully came to conclusion. Elaborate arrangements were done by all the constitutions colleges of Meenakshi Academy of Higher Education and Research in the presence of Thiru.
