Successful launch of 'Helina' from indigenously-developed helicopter

By A Staff Reporter : Successful launch. The anti-tank guided missile 'Helina' was launched experimentally from an indigenously-developed helicopter. The experiment was jointly conducted by a team of scientists from the Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO), the Indian Army and the Indian Air Force (IAF).The flight trials were conducted from an Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH) and the missile was fired successfully engaging simulated tank target. The missile is guided by an Infrared Imaging Seeker (IIR) operating in the Lock on Before Launch mode. It is one of the most advanced anti-tank weapon in the world.
