By A Staff Reporter : To enhance maritime security, the Indian Coast Guard (ICG) on Sunday comissioned the latest Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH-Dhruv) MK-III squadron in Bhubaneswar, Orissa. The helicopter was commissioned in the presence of by Indian Coast Guard chief VS Pathania.The most advanced version of the ALH will boost the coastal power of West Bengal and Orissa and beyond, ICG officials said.These helicopters are equipped with state-of-the art equipment like Surveillance Radar, Electro Optic Pod, Medical Intensive Care Unit, High Intensity Search Light, SAR Homer, Loud Hailer, Machine Gun and can perform other key roles, according to HAL.The ICG fleet currently has a total of 8 aircraft such as Dornier and ALH. The fleet has a total of 156 ships including OPV, FPV, ACV and PCV.The major variants of Dhruv are classified as Dhruv Mk-I, Mk-II, Mk-III & Mk-IV.These helicopters are equipped with state-of-the-art equipment such as Surveillance Radar, Electro Optic Pod, Medical Intensive Care Unit, High Intensity Search Light, SAR Homer, Loud Heller, Machine Gun and other important roles, according to HAL. Multi-roll, multi-mission new generation helicopter that weighs 5.5 tons. The basic helicopter is produced in skid version and wheel version.
