Govt blocks 18 Indian and 4 Pakistan based YouTube channels

By A Staff Reporter : Twenty-two YouTube channels have been blocked for spreading misinformation about the country's national security, foreign relations and public order.This was stated by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting on Tuesday.Among the blocked channels are 16 Indian and 4 Pakistani channels.Allegedly, these channels have misled viewers by using TV news channel logos and fake thumbnails.It is also reported that 3 Twitter accounts, 1 Facebook account and 1 news website have been blocked.The blocked YouTube channels had more than 260 million views.The government said this is the first time action has been taken on the Indian YouTube channels since the notification of the IT Rules, 2021 in February last year. Complaint is that

the blocked Indian YouTube channels are using templates and logos of certain TV news channels, including pictures of their news anchors, to make viewers believe the news is true. The titles and thumbnails of the videos were often changed to increase the popularity of the content on social
