BY A STAFF REPORTER: The Kolkata High Court has made scathing attack on the reputation of additional director general of police, CID, Gyanwant Singh mentioning that ``his independence and impartiality has been doubted by submitting that there was an allegation of murder of one Razwanur Rehman against him in the year 2007 and therefore he was kept out of work till 2014,

and that ED has also summoned him in relation to a coal smuggling scam of rupees one thousand three hundred crores.'' The division bench of chief justice Prakash Srivastava and justice Rajarshi Bharadwaj also came down heavily on the Special Investigation Team (SIT) stating that although it was constituted on 22 March, ``but till now there is not effective contribution of the SIT in the investigations.''

The division bench observed that SIT did not follow the required procedure in investigations by using tower damping technology to ascertain the presence of accused at the spot.
