Birbhum mass murder: axe might fall on SP, other senior officers

BY A STAFF REPORTER

The state government is planning a few drastic changes following the ghastly mass murder at Birbhum. ANM News have learnt that after chief minister Mamata Banerjee takes stock of the situation in the area on Thursday, the axe is likely to fall on the superintendent of police Birbhum, Nagendra Tripathi, SDPO, Shayan Ahmed and Inspector in charge of Rampurhat police station. Political observers claimed that Bengal's image has taken a beating following the mass murder and chief minister Mamata is under pressure to act. The suspension of few low level officers have given rise to the theory that they are being made the ``scape goat.'' Grapevine in the government and political circles indicated that some ``drastic action are on cards.''
