Seven persons burnt alive, a TMC leader murdered in Birbhum violence

Seven persons were burnt alive when a rampaging mob set fire to their house in Buktai village in Rampurhat in Birbhum. The mob attack took place following a clash on Monday evening in which a TMC leader was killed. Locals claimed that the attack and setting fire to the houses were in retaliation to the murder. The area was tense with police and fire brigade personnel at the spot. Senior police officers were camping in the area. The state director general of police, Manoj Malviya mentioned that a three member SIT team has been formed to investigate the incident. Police said eleven persons have been arrested. The OC of Rampurhat police station and SDPO have been immediately replaced.
