47.39% of rural households are benefiting from safe drinking water: Gajendra Singh Shekhawat

By A Staff Reporter : The regional conference of Jal Jeevan Mission & Swachh Bharat Mission-Grameen was held at the Biswa Bangla Convention Center in Newtown.Union Minister Shri Gajendra Singh Shekhawat presided over the programme.Union Minister Prahlad Singh Patel was alson present along with 6 participating state ministers.Union Minister for Water Resources Gajendra Singh Shekhawat reviewed the progress under the Water Life Mission and Transparent India Mission-Rural with Union Territory Ministers, including the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. He said,"When the Prime Minister launched Jal Jeevan Mission on August 15, 2019, only 17 per cent of rural households had access to tap water connection. Percentage households are benefiting from pure drinking water.'Har Ghar Jal' should be a society driven and not engineer-drivenprogramme. The nation is proud to say that all the districts of India declared themselves open defecation free (ODF) on October 2, 2019, well ahead of the targets set under the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). "







Incidentally, For the year 2022-23 underJJM, Rs 13,105 Crore has been tentatively allocated by the Centre for 6 (Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Mizoram, Orissa, West Bengal) States.
