By A Staff Reporter :  The commercial operation of Metro Rail service in Pune will start on March 6. Prime Minister Modi will travel on Pune Metro from Garwar station to Vanaj on Sunday to launch Metro rail service. The Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation has received a safety clearance from the Commissioner of Metro Railway Safety to run the Pune Metro on the 12 km route from Wanaj to Garwar College, PCMC to Fugewari Line.50:50 between Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Center and Government of Maharashtra
Proportionately jointly owned Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) is carrying out the Pune Metro Rail project.The Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation has said that the work of the stretch has been completed. There are 10 stations each. Pune Metro Phase 1 has two corridors - one from Vanaj to Ramwari, which is an improved line. The other corridor is from Pimpri Chinchwad to Swargate, which is elevated to the Agricultural College at Shivajinagar and then underground.The Pune Metro is a 12 km stretch of the project with 10 stations. Five racks extending to Vanaj-Garwar College and PCMC-Fugewari have been deployed for passenger travel. Metro services are about to start after the inauguration of Prime Minister Modi for which all necessary arrangements have been made.
