A quiet discontent is growing among IPS officers in the state after a reported incident where a police sub inspector and his colleagues threatened a senior IPS officer over a transfer of a junior official. According to sources close to senior IPS officers, the sub inspector of Kolkata police literally warned the IPS officer with consequences if he does not retract the transfer order. Sources close to several IPS officers mentioned that the SI and another inspector attached to the welfare department along with few others, claiming proximity with the ruling party, are reportedly indulging in highhanded behavior with senior IPS officers.
