By a Staff Reporter: As a part of celebration India@75, the 15 member Bhola panchhi International Dance group (from ganganagar, Rajasthan) led by Shri Parvinder Singh sponsored by Indian council for cultural relations arrived in Damascus on 30th January, 2022 and left for India on 3rd February 2022.



The Bhangra group had its first performance at iconic opera theatre on January 31 2022 at 7.00 pm. The even was graced among others by minister of culture Dr. Lubana Mshawah and her spouse, Minister pf education Dr. Dareem Tabba, Comrade Dr. Mosheen Bilal, member of central command of Arab socialist Baathparty and head of the central cultural Bureadu, comrade Hussam Al- Samoan, Mr. Manaf Akkad, MP and his spouse, Brig. Azdeashir Al Hourani, senior syrian Arab Delegate, Senior official from the foreign ministry, chambers of commerce and Industry, people from all walks of life of syria, media, Indian community and friends and well wishers of India numbering around 600.

The 2nd Bhangra performance was held on 1st February, 2022 at 6pm at the cultural centre, Lattakia, which is about 350km from Damascus. Governor of Lattakia Mr. Amer Ismael Hilal was the chief guest. People from all walks of all life numbering about 400 attended the event and fully appreciated the gesture of Govt. of India.



 

The troupe had it’s 3rd performance at homes cultural centre, which was about 200 km from Lattakia enroute to Damascus. The chief guest was the governor Homs Eng, Bassam Barsik and vice Governor Mr. Elias Khouri and his spouse. All the three events started with the playing the national anthems, speeches, five minutes documentary on India@75 and Punjab and in the background slides on culture of Punjab. Unfortunately, the head of the bhangra group tested corona positive and it’s being take care by the Mission.
