China hints at releasing Indian national 'soon'

BY A STAFF REPORTER

The Indian Army on Wednesday exchanged a hotline with China's People's Liberation Army over a missing teen from Arunachal Pradesh. 19-year-old Miram Taron had gone missing on January 18 from Shiyung La in the Bishing Area. With the area being close to the Line of Actual Control, the Indian Army had immediately approached the Chinese side for assistance in tracing and return of the individual - in case he had strayed into the Chinese territory or PLA has taken him in their custody.

"PLA responded positively indicating handing over of our national and suggested a place of release. They are likely to intimate date and time soon. Delay attributed to bad weather conditions on their side," shared Union Minister Kiren Rijiju.
