Fire department to check on safety drill in Calcutta social Clubs

BY A STAFF REPORTER
The state fire service department has decided to check on safety measures in prominent city clubs. Speaking exclusively to ANM News, director general of fire services P Niraj Nayan mentioned that all city social clubs, like Bengal Club, Saturday Club, CCFC, Tollygunge Club, Calcutta Club, RCGC, need to follow the fire safety drill. ``We will send officers to check whether there are adequate fire extinguishers, trained manpower to use them in time of need, source of adequate water supply in case of incident of fire and space for movement of fire tenders,'' Niraj Nayan said. Incidentally, the massive fire at Secunderabad Club in Hyderabad has pushed the fire department to ensure that prominent city social clubs follow the fire safety drills. Fire services department sources mentioned that there are roughly 36 points to the safety drill. ``A vendor duly authorised by the fire service department should carry out the drill,'' the fire service department official said.
