Kabaddi in war ravaged Syria

The Embassy of India, Damascus organised the first ever Kabaddi tournament in association with General Sports Federation of Syria as part of celebrations of Indian National Youth Day and India@75 at Tishreen Sports Centre, Damascus on Saturday, 15th January 2022 at 1100 hours. 





Teams from Damascus, Countryside Damascus, Homs, Quneitra and Indian diaspora participated in the Kabaddi tournament.







The event started with the playing of national anthem of the two countries followed by welcome zumba dance . The team india led by indian contingent in undof won the trophy with runner up Damascus countryside and homs in the 3rd position. 









Besides trophies, the first three teams were given away gold, silver and bronze medals and one best player each of last two losing teams was also given gold medal. 











Head of Damascus branch of Arab socialist baath party mr Hasan salman and adviser in the central command of the Arab socialist baath party dr ghazwan Ramadan were the chief guests. president of all for sports federation ms sana Mohamed, baath party Damascus branch head mr. 









husan salman and ambassador of india m.s.kanyal spoke on the occasion. indian snacks were served. the event was attended by indian community, sports lovers and media numbering 300.
