By a staff reporter:

Following Stakeholder meetings for the return to in- person schooling for Terms 2 and 3 on Monday, the Trinidad and Tobago unified Teachers Association has reiterated its disagreement with plans for the full reopening of Secondary schools noting that it received few details on the re-opening of primary schools.

There have been reports that TTUTA walked out of Monday’s meeting but speaking with ie News on Tuesday, TTUTA’s President Antonia Tekah DeFreitas denied there being any walk out. She said the meeting happened and ended as it should.

But in a statement following the meeting, the Union said that implementing blended classes cannot be undertaken by the Minister of Education. It said such matters must be tabled for discussion between TTUTA and the Chief Personnel Officer. TTUTA also continued its call for educators to be additionally compensated for using their personal devices and time spent.
