T&T’S OPPOSITION LEADER SLAMS GOVT’S PUBLIC SECTOR VACCINE MANDATE

By a staff reporter:

T&T’S Opposition Leader Kamla Persad Bissessar has expressed her concerns with Government’s public sector vaccine mandate, describing it as discriminatory.

At the UNC’s Monday night meeting, Mrs Persad Bissesar said that Government’s plan was not clearly thought out. She said they should instead focus on building trust and transparency.

She also chided the government for not presenting data on the covid-19 vaccines and its long term or short term effects She noted that the vaccine is relatively new, therefore it is unreasonable to force persons to take the jab.

On Dec 18th, the country’s Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley said public-sector employees must be vaccinated to work in person at government offices, and their refusal will result in salaries not being paid. He said, “The government workplace is going to change. Come mid-January we insist that the government workplace would require vaccinated workers."
